A reporter from CNN goes inside the Ebola patients ward in Guinea to show the state of the spreading of the virus.
Amazing cover on what’s going on in Conakri, Guinea, revealed by CNN reporter. In the video they show what it takes for a journalist or a medical worker to get inside the ward – they dress in special suit so that nothing would come in or out of it. Even a small piece of tissue with contagious virus may get a person sick if it gets to open part of his body.
However, what is interesting about this virus is the fact that it is not so easily spread. The person who got infected will show the signs of the virus within a period of 21 days. Moreover, this person becomes contagious only when he/she shows symptoms which include diarrhea, high fever, bleeding. Still, a person who already is very sick with Ebola becomes extremely contagious even after his/her death.
Doctors, who came to work at that area are investigating the area looking for clues of where the disease started. It is believed, that fruit bats are the sources of spreading of the virus. Still, it has not been officially proven yet. Researchers catch hundreds of animals and birds in that area and test their blood that might show any clues.
The report shows that people of Conakry are living a normal life and mostly have no idea what is going on inside those wards.
When someone is suspected of being infected with Ebola, he is immediately taken to the ward where doctors would examine his body. Just to make sure the patient is safe, the period for which a person would be kept in ward to make sure he/she does not have the symptoms is doubled, so instead of 21 days they are to spend at least 42 days there.
According to new reports, the speed at which the virus is spreading has slowed down. However, the research will still go on to make sure there is no danger.
It has been reported that 121 people have already died of Ebola with 200 people still suspected as infected. The overall update on the state of situation may take a month due to incubation period.
