Speaking with newsmen at the scene, the official however restrained from claiming that the attack had been carried out by Boko Haram insurgents, as it was alleged, saying that it was too early to say who was responsible for the bombing.

The explosion was so powerful that the terrorist's car was reportedly ripped into 3 pieces. Locals told journalists that the sound of explosion was heard kilometres away from the affected area.
It is not the first time the predominantly Christian Sabon Giri area has come under attack: at least 4 strong explosions rocked the area on July 29, 2013, having claimed 12 lives.
