A 25-year-old man, identified as Damilare Oladoja, was on Monday remanded in prison custody by an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court, Osun State for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl (names withheld).

Sgt. Christian Babatunde, the police prosecutor told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 8 at about 10.05 a.m. at Gbelekan area of Ile-Ife.
The prosecutor alleged that the accused, who did not disclose his residential address, had unlawful sexual intercourse with the minor.
Babatunde informed the court that the offence is contrary to section 31 (1) of the Child Rights Law of Osun 2007 and punishable under section 2 of the same law.
Magistrate Michael Awe, who did not take the plea of the accused, remanded him to Ile-Ife prison.
The magistrate told the counsel to the defence, Lekan Babatunde to file a formal application for his client's bail, and adjourned the case to June 30 for hearing.
