38-year-old Fadekemi Oladiti, a beer parlour operator was on Wednesday remanded in prison by an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly killing her boyfriend.
The accused who was said to have committed the crime on Feb. 6 at about 7 a.m. at Igbogi area of Ilesa in Osun, according to the prosecutor, was arraigned on a one-count charge of culpable homicide.
The prosecutor, Sgt Joshua Oladoye told the court deceased had gone to the house of the accused and discovered her sitting on the lap of another man which led to a quarell which resulted in the accused hitting him with a stool.
The deceased, however, did not survive the attack as he died after being on admission in the hospital for weeks.
The prosecutor said the offence was contrary to and punishable under section 319 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
Magistrate Habibat Basiru denied the accused's plea directed the prosecution to duplicate and forward the case file to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) to obtain legal advice.
The magistrate adjourned the case till Oct. 10.
